the dilemma that you face has been a problem for Adelaide people for the last 18 months since Garuda pulled out of Adelaide. The main consideration will be the time that it takes. It will be over 11 hours from Melbourne to Bali.Having had 4 daughters who were 11 years old at some stage I don't think that you will have a happy household. There is no way that you will get $39 fares in July as WA school holidays start on 4th July. A 5& a half hour trip each way direct from Melb would be about $2700 for the 3 of you. Your total saving of about $450 is hardly worth the hassle. Don't forget that you have to collect your luggage at Perth domestic & cart it 20km to the international airport. The extra hotel costs on your return, taxis etc will cost you more in the long run. Good luck.
