transfers or wing it with a taxi

hi first time in bali nto sure whether to pay for transfers from hotel as apprently not in package deal and if so how much generally do transfers cost to BGH and how much for taxi. Any good tips on avoinding the porters I seem to keep reading about at the airport there will be 4 of us mum mums friend me and my 13 yr old girl. Thanks
