Just stand your ground and dont let them get your bags whatever you do!! I went with my cousin last year and it was her 1st time in Bali aswell. After telling her numerous times not to lose me, she does and a porter got her bags. They were pretty insistent that she should give them a tip so she gave them $20 AUD!! Needless to say I didnt let her out of my sight again hehe have a good trip!! :-)
