I note the general comments and guess that we have been dudded for the grand sum of six bucks.The interesting thing about this is that the driver of our transport gave the woman some coins and after we moved off he offered the opinion that she was genuine and this was a very poor area.Is it better to give something and be dudded as opposed to not giving to the genuine.
The whole scene can be disturbing. The number of touts who obviously cannot find work, the number of people standing around in any store and the number of people trying to cadge a living of sorts, is a sad indictment on the country and whilst your very being in the country helps the locals, it is apparent that these good people are victims. I am not sure that I wish to return in a hurry.
