Why do people feel that the balinese are so impoverished? There are numerous places throughout the world far, far worse off! They receive huge amounts of AUS tourist dollar each year, not to mention American and European tourist dollar. If they have a drama with excepting clothing simply don't take it. Stop mollycoddling them and let them provide for themselves and gain some dignity!
