I think you will find the locals don't drink the tap water. I am married to a Balinese and our family in Bali most definately don't drink the tap water. They take their large water bottles (like the ones we can exchange in Aus) to the fresh water running streams to fill them up to use for drinking & cooking and those who can afford it buy bottled water.
