Hi we have just returned yesterday and stayed in apartments at Jayakarta. We had the private ones not the hotel owned ones and could not fault them, beautifully and tastefully decorated and furnished with king sized beds ( we had 3 different apartments for 7 of us). Would I stay there again?? NO, probably not, even though the accommodation was great it was just too far from the pool and the pool service was non existant.
And yes we did walk miles and miles shopping, etc, but when we got back to our rooms and felt the A/C and cooled down we could not be bothered with the walk to the pool. Whereas if we had been close I would have just jumped in any old time for a quick swim and so would the kids. Also, from experiences from other holidays and other hotels the pool service (or lack of) gave a con for Jayakarta. You could get food and drinks but one day it took an hour for our order to come after you had to get up and go and order it and there are not the waiters walking about offering to take your order like other places we stay at many who have flags that you wave and someone takes your order or the waiters are just walking about ready to attend. Other hotels in bali have massage ladies walking about offering to do leg massages on the lounges... now that did not happen either and it would have been great as I was always lying there watching the kids swim. This is what i want out of nice resort but not at all evident at jayakarta.
Of course others have different needs.
If you are there for mostly shopping and tours then the apartments are close to the front of hotel and are very spacious and comfy with TV and DVD players in lounge and bedrooms and water supplied and the housekeeping lady even took our washing everyday and returned it next morning and we just paid her which was cheap and easy and saved a job for me on my holiday especially when travelling with 5 boys sweaty smelly socks and T-shirts !!!
I am happy to give you more info if you want to email me. We had 15 days with 8yr old thru to 17yr olds so lots of trips and activities and money spent.
cheers Deb
