Yest, Ubud is definitely the place to go! I just got back from there 1 day ago after spending 14 days there. There is a hot springs (I have been told). Do climb Tabur volcano (fairly easy, hot vents up there), do ask for and find the Yoga Barn (which is in Ubud).
The airport is close to the beach area, a relatively slopply place compared to Ubud. I would recomend staying at perhaps Melati Cottages (cost about 30 USD a night), when booking ask them to send their driver (about 15 USD). Get some rest then start looking for a nicer & cheaper digs (LOTS of options in the area). Best of all there are NO tourists down there, the hotels and restaurants are top class and hungry for business. And equally important, the are is safe and the people genuine. Have fun!
