I should have not taken such arrogant and rude treatment from anybody and just left it at that.
I would be interested to hear if you actually made a formal complaint to Management - not only about the attitude of this incredibly rude person - but about the fact that their staff were actually accepting money to "save" pool lounges for those who elected to use them only at their own convenience.
I have managed a number of hotels in Australia and now, even though my Resort in North Sulawesi has only 14 rooms, my clear instruction to Security is that they check the pool area at least once every hour and if there are any un-used pool lounges (i.e. any with belongings on them but no guest actually using either pool or lounge, they are to remove towels and replace with fresh ones for use by any arriving guest/s. It there are personal belongings on towel but no guest at pool area, these are moved to an adjacent vacant table. If the lounge is in use when the "owner" returns then is is simply bad luck for them.
If, following a formal complaint to Management about their poor supervision of the pool area which is, after all, for the use of EVERY guest and not just those who consider themselves to be "the chosen few"- and no action was forthcoming - I would tell them precisely what to do with their hotel and move-out immediately.
If you have made a reservation through a Travel Agent, then you should have their Wholesaler's Bali contact number in your documents. Advise them of your dis-satisfaction and request that they take-up the matter on your behalf with Hotel Management and if a satisfactory solution can not be achieved, arrange to move you from the offending property.
Make your Travel Agent aware of the deficiencies of the Hotel's management and hopefully they will take this into consideration when making future recommendations.
Sadly I don't think this would mean much to management at Kumala Pantai as I found they showed little respect towards either their Wholesalers or Agents and seemed to have (at least when I was selling Bali from Australia) an air of indifference towards complaints - basically "if you don't like it then there are others who will".
