Thursday 7th June:
Today we all had a sleep in and awoke for our ritual tea and coffee which again we enjoyed outdoors under the gazebo table. Boys and I jumped on the motorbike to go for brakfast at the Green Garden. My daughter wanted a ride this morning, so hubby dropped us of at Green Garden and rode back on the bike to get my Mum and daughter.
Had a lovely breakfast and while sitting in the restaurant my son spotted some hats across the road to the right of Dianne's shop. I strolled across the street with him and my daughter, while mum and hubby had another coffee. Purchased 2 hats for him, and my daughter spotted a couple of lovely watches. The watches were a thick silver bracelet with a pink opal looking shell butterfly which is on hinges, and you lift the butterfly to view the clock face. She got one pink, and one creamy white coloured butterfly bracelet watch. They were quite unique and I hadn't seen them elsewhere. I also got a couple of genuine leather handmade mens surf brand wallets. Within the next couple of days Mum purchased some of these wallets including ladies wallets for gifts and so did hubby for our next door neighbours at home who were taking care of our dogs while we were on holidays. Our next door neighbour has 5 boys so we got them all a wallet each and some oakley sunnies.
We then went to Discovery Mall, today my daughter was on a mission to make an appointment to get her hair braided.
I first stopped on the first floor of the mall and purchased 2 silver toe rings, one of them has a ghecko on it and it's really cute. From the same stall I got another necklace pendant which can go on my choker that I previously got. Mum got a watch set and some ciggarette cases with lighters for gifts. Boys went their own way looking at electronics and x-box games etc.
We went to the hair braiding salon that is to the right of the Black Canyon coffee shop (if inside the mall, or if entring the mall at the back door its to the left of the Black Canyon). The shop had not long been opened this morning and at this stage they had no customers so we agreed on price, and she was their first customer for the day. She asked for extensions, as her hair is layered and she wanted her braids to all be one length and have longer hair than she usually does. Her hair is quite long anyway but now it is much longer. We agreed on 250,000 rupiah for the extensions and I told them if it's a very good job with small braids then I would give them an extra 50,000 and they were happy with that. So Mum and I settled daughter in with her gameboy and a new game she had purchased and got her a cold drink and left her with the hair braiding girls while we wandered around.
We then went to Black Canyon and Mum got an iced coffee and I got an icy tropical fruit drink. We sat outside and had a chat for a while and relaxed in the warm air, it was quite hot in the sun and I was glad that my daughter was getting her hair braided in the comfort of air-conditioning in the mall. We went and checked on how the hair braiding was going , all was well and daughter wanted some company so I sat down and chatted with her and the ladies. We all decided to get our fingernails and toenails painted by the girls there also. Mum wandered off for more shopping of course, and came back with a surprise for the kids. She got them each the newest release Tamagotchi from the toy store which is on the same level. So my daughter opened hers and played with it while the girls finished off her hair braids. By this time the boys were at Black Canyon having a coffee and fanta. Us girls had settled in at the salon and lined up for our nails to be painted and get our Bali flowers. The boys bid us farewell and went for a ride on the motorbike and we agreed to meet them back at the villa. The hair braids turned out to be a good job and we all left the salon with our freshly painted nails.
By this time it was almost 2.00pm the day had passed quicker than we had expected so we stopped in fistly at bread talk and got a range of different pastries and some bread and butter pudding. Then we went to Krispy Kremes and got a dozen glazed donughts to take back to the villa. We caught a taxi from across the road of the Discovery Mall and headed straight to the villa.
The boys were chilling out watching a DVD and we all snacked on the pastries. The bread and butter pudding was yummo! I think our eyes were too big for our bellies, as we had quite a few savoury pastries left over. We then went for a swim in the pool, came back and put some music on then broke into our duty free drinks.
I popped across the road to the shop which is located directly across from the driveway of Kuta Royale Villa entrace and got some Coke, a couple of Bintangs and some icecreams for the kids. This is a small convenience shop and the prices are very cheap here.
We were quite content to just stay at the villa tonight. We still had our savourie pastries and plenty of nibblies to snack on, so we didn't go out for dinner tonight and decided to stay in and have an early night, as tomorrow was going to be a big day for us all.
Next Installment JBR - Part 6: Day at Waterbom Park and a Big night out for us ladies.
