I used my Westpac debit Visa card and was charged au$5 per withdrawal plus almost 1% currency conversion charge.
(I might add I had to select credit card when I chose my account for withdraw)
EG to withdraw 2,000,000rp, (au$277.01) cost me an additional au$7.72 in charges.
Same costs to purchase an item using the Visa debit card.
National Australia charged 2.45% in charges on each Visa purchase.
So if you do withdraw from the ATMs, make sure you take out more rather than a number of smaller amounts.
AND be very careful as the credit card is the last in the process accessing the ATM. (In Australia, the card comes out first followed by the money and receipt.)
