MBR is a clean hotel, and great for families, but is not a hotel that you can compare with the Dynasty. The price difference alone should tell you that much! :)
I doubt you can guarantee pool front rooms at any hotel you go to, because everyone else wants them too.
You should not have any problem with interconnecting rooms, provided you've gone for superior above standard. I don't think standard rooms have interconnections, and they are definitely not poolside. They are comparitive in size and layout to superior rooms, but further from the pools and reception, and don't have a balcony - though there are shared sitting areas outside the rooms in the new wing.
As far as I'm aware, the kids club is still not running at Melasti - never has been for as long as I've stayed there (since 2003).
