My father was recently listerning to talk back radio Perth regarding an airport scam in Bali on departure.
It was said that - eg 'Say you are travlling for 1 week, Monday to Monday, when entering Bali your passport is stamped ect ect....... BUT! Your passport is stamped for 7 days in Bali when in fact it is 8 days.
Many people phoned in saying that they had been pulled aside on departure and told that they had in fact OVER stayed thier allowed / stamped time and then asked to pay up $65USD - quote. Some people had their passports held while they then changed their money to USD to pay the fee as this is all that they would accept.
Not to mention, the delay then missing your flight home.
Some one else mentioned jail for the night from refusing to pay this fee.
I realise on departure we already pay a departure fee but this is something diffrent.
Has anyone heard of this scam? Whats the likely hood of this happening?
