Something has just occurred to me regarding polite dress in Bali. I realise that in the tourist areas some believe that pretty much anything goes, and certainly more is tolerated in the way of shorts, singlets, etc. In the past I've been quite careful that my partner & I dress quite conservatively as we travel around Bali - covered armpits/sleeves at all times, longer skirts/pants, etc. However, it's only occurred to me as our eldest daughter gets older that we should have, perhaps been more conservative with the way the children dress. It just kind of didn't occur to me that these codes would include the children, and I may have been wrong in assuming it doesn't. My daughter is now 10, but she looks 13, and I'm just wondering at what age we should get her to cover up a bit more in Bali or whether we, in fact, should have done so with our kids from the start. I've just looked through photos of Balinese kids & they all seem to have sleeves on - not a singlet-style top or dress in sight. Have we been doing the wrong thing? Thanks very much for any help. Cheers, Sue.
