Safety for female travellers

To Bali? Will be going on my own, but am very sociable. Want to stay Jimbara(?) beach and Ubud, and maybe visit to good surfing beach for a look...and have shopping to do of course lol
First time visit to bali, any suggestions re secure but artistic accomm, not flash or expensive in these areas. Thanx guys and girls, kool site.
