I'm staying in Jimbaran from Sunday at a place called Puri Bambu hotel. Check out their website and do a search of the archives, and if you decide to stay there, I found booking direct with the hotel was far cheaper than other options.
As far as travelling alone is concerned, I've never had a problem and I always go by myself. Just don't put yourself in situations where you could be at risk.
