Arrived at Adel airport with the usual huge amount of luggage including probably 130 kgs between us to give away. My friends kids also took their surf boards so way loaded up. Very quick check in with no prob as had organised the waiver and was actually under the weight. As plenty of time had money changed to Us dollars and rupiah to save looking for a money changer first off.
The flight was maybe around half full, great as had a few seats each. Food and drinks prob average but seemed a quick flight. Through visa,immigration lines within minutes.Decided to pay the porters as had so much luggage and kids to contend with and not loose - although some days this would have been a bonus.
Had the welcoming comittee of my friend and driver Made Mangku his family plus his brother to greet us outside this is just the best way to arrive in a foreign country when people are so glad to see you..After all the hellos piled into the two cars with cold drinks in hand and headed off for the short drive.
The Patra is a beautiful hotel 2 mins from airport could just about walk if you didnt carry everthing but the kitchen sink in your bags.
We had had 3 deluxe rooms booked but i decided to do some negotiating to upgrade to a suite and even though it cost more ,glad i did. Ended up dealing with one of the managers and as i was planning to help out the Balinese people said it would be nice if they could help me out as well so all happy in the end with much better upgrade price. My friend had two interconnecting deluxe rooms on other side of hotel.. We ended up with a great suite close to the pool with semi separate lounge/dining huge bathroom with spa etc
As Made was already there with us decided even though the pool and cocktails were calling thought it best to do a supermarket shop so headed off to Pepitos. Bought the cases of diet coke juices snacks etc etc and still managed to be in the pool soon enough with a cocktail in hand.....
