I have been going to bali since i was 21 years old around 10 trips in all and had planned my 40th next year as a girls trip which we were all totally excited about. I have travelled to many places in asia and indonesia but Bali is on top of my list.
We are not going now - we are all mums and have partners and straight away without hesitation we decided not to go somewhere that is on high alert for terrorist attacks. I cannot risk something happening to me and leaving a family behind.
Dont get me wrong I love Bali and I love the Balinese and I do realise that we are at risk of terrorist attack here in Australia - and I am damn sure it will happen soon. We are a prime target. I am sure we all know the Indonesian police force are corrupt. Are they doing enough to protect tourists and their own people from terrorists ? Doesnt anyone stop and consider that the Bali bombers got very short sentences for killing and maiming many people and C$$$by gets 20 years. Work that one out !!
Anyway I wish you all well - and for those going - that is great - the Balinese need what support they can get, but I think there are some with rose colored glasses, there is a risk involved and it is a big one. We can only hope and pray another tragedy like this one wont occur again in beautiful Bali.
