I had emailed a clinic who advise for travellers who go overseas to ask if they had heard of the new medication out for B/Belly & this is there response, still no word back from A Current Affair on the story they ran so i have put in the info given by the travelvax website & ALSO web addy for anyone who wants it - Dukoral, which is an injection, you can drink, you would need two doses a
week apart, it would cover you for cholera and has protective efficacy
against the main travellers diarrhoea, called Enterotoxogenic E.Coli. It is
very expensive however, and would not protect against all the strains of
bali-belly.
We usually recommend rehydration salts, antibiotics and stopper drugs in a
little kit, they are prescription medications and you would have to come and
see us in one of our clinics, to get it.That you use to treat yourself, if
you should get it.
Please feel free to call our toll-free number on 1300 360 164 Mon-Fri 9-5
EST for information regarding the closest clinic to you.
