Arrived back on Friday morning in Melboune temp 4 deg.,AP great. Stopped a week at Swastika Sanur. A bit of Balinese philosophy from the waiter at Joli Res. across road from Swastika. I call my wife boss and he said that is right, man is king woman is boss, because she controls the money, man came from woman and man spends all his live trying to get back! Swastika is a nice hotel, we had the biggest room we have ever had in Bali. For fit people there should be no troubles, but the boss has just had a pacemaker fitted and steps do not agree with her, and Swastika has plenty. The restaurant is reached by a magnificent staircase with steps made for giants. The breakfast is continental and not much chop. Hardy grosier is almost next door and almost everything can be purchased there. We found Sanur dead and we are ancient. We went to Denpasar to Ramayana Mall, which is good for clothes, but we wanted DVDs and software and Nike basket ball shoes. No joy, Sakura at the mall has no software and a poor range of DVDs, no Nike shoes were found. Had lunch there thought it was Mongolian beef, but turned out to be chicken liver, not nice. Took a taxi back, the driver could not speak English. I had a good conversation in Indonesia and he said I am so please that you speak my language. I felt that 20 years of suffering was worth it. Went to Legian to stay at Puri Raja. Back to a bit of life. We got our basket ball shoes at Matahari, and software and DVDs at Sakura. We purchased 4kg of beads at Toko Central. A tip if you tell the taxi driver to take you to KFC and drop you on that side of the road. Toko Central is about 50 meters on the way back to Bemo corner. We got off on the other side and the boss refused to cross, thankfully a young Balinese bravely stepped out and stopped the traffic for the king and boss. We met Sammy772 and family, and Habib, but Spida was there and very shy so we did not meet him, Pauline also was at PR. It was bad news to find that PR will be closed for up to 6 months from 1st Feb. The last week the boss had to be stopped shopping as 4kg beads and 4kg of DVDs and 9 bags plus shoes, belts, thongs and clothes would make luggage close to excess weight. To cut a long story short we managed to get through unscathed although our carry-on went with our bags.
Cannot wait to go back
, to stop where I do not know.
