Will be in Bali from mid-September for 2 months with 2 kids, with the plan to use Ubud as our base. I need some help figuring out how to manage the first few days in Bali as I'm now thinking I should make hotel bookings for atleast 4 or 5 days ASAP - apparently Aus and NZ school holidays start a few days after I arrive (I hadn't realized!) and as I was hoping to stay atleast a few days at the popular Tegal Sari Hotel in Ubud, I now feel a bit pressured to make decisions I had been hoping to make AFTER I got to Bali...
Thing is, we will be arriving without any clothes (no we won't be naked, we will have clothes ON, so no you won't be able to easily recognize us!) with the idea that we'll purchase everything for the trip, right down to the undies, footwear and swimsuits, in Bali.
Would I be able to accomplish this kind of shopping at budget prices in Ubud? If 'yes', where please? Will I also be able to get things like wet-wipes and all the other 'health-conscious' necessities that go with travelling with kids?
If the answer is 'probably not', then any suggestions where we can stay that's nicer, with cleaner beaches, and is more 'real Bali' than Kuta when we first arrive in Bali? Somewhere we can easily and quickly get our shopping out of the way (up to 10-15 minute drive is fine), but where the kids will still get a nice introduction to the magical NON-commercial/material pleasures of Bali before we head to Ubud?
Probably be helpful to know too if hordes of holiday-makers are likely to descend on Bali for the the last 2 weeks of September, would anyone know? Many thanks....
