Gold credit card insurance - positives

please. Have used it for last 5 trips - but not had to claim - but now plan to use it for Europe - but hope I am not going with a false sense of security :( Excesses don't worry me so much - it's the accident or lost luggage or death of someone at home that concerns me. Have any of you had to claim for these sorts of things and if so - were you happy with it all ?
