Is NOT cheap. In fact, saffron is quite possibly the most expensive flavouring spice that I am aware of.

We recently bought some really good saffron from a Kashmiri retailer in Bombay and paid the equivalent of 1,10,000 Rupiah for 10 grams. That is, ten grams cost us one hundred ten thousand Rupiah.

And, I know we got a reasonably good deal....qualitywise and pricewise.

The best quality saffron comes from Spain.
