I have to first convert Indian Rupees into US Dollars as I cannot get sufficient quantities of Indonesian Rupiah here in Bombay. Lets say, I wanted the equivalent of 10,000 US$. That is roughly 90 million Indonesian Rupiah....noooo way I could get even 1/100th that amount in Bombay. Soooo, my options are to either buy US Dollars or Travellers Cheques or perhaps Euro here in Bombay and then change them for Rupiah in Indonesia and Ringitt in Malaysia, where I go after Bali. In Malaysia, there is no such problem with US Dollars. Are you saying that ONLY US $ in MINT CONDITION are changed in Bali ????? If that's really the case, then I think TC's are probably the answer. Or Euro ??? What do you think ???
Thanks for replying, Cliff...I appreciate your taking the time and trouble. On the issue of holding US $, I agree entirely. None other than the Oracle of Omaha(WB, who else??) is short the dollar, big time that too. So is Soros and Jim Rogers. Why would I want to be on the other side of their bet ??? Noooo, I am not suicidal, Cliff ;-)
Thanks much...and awaiting yr reply,
Carlos de Souza.
