The last little bit
An extra night
The day had finally arrived, the one we all dread. Time to go home.
With mixed emotions tinged with the excitement of seeing our loved ones combined with the gut wrenching feeling of being torn away from a life of indulgence and relaxation we were off.
The transport was on time at 5.30pm. Off to the airport with those final, long dreamy desperate glances as the last bits of Bali whisk by. Through the endless lines of customs, immigration etc. Only 20Kg over weight in total, not bad for four of us, after having to go to a little office with the piece of paper that said we were naughty people (must be the new routine with Garuda) we got away without paying anything. Up to the departure lounge, waited for a Singapore flight to clear through the X-ray thingy. Waiting, waiting, waiting and yet more waiting.
A man came up and said out loud; excuse me, all people going to Perth. What is going on now? all of us tired and long waiting people were thinking?
Well to cut a long story short they were expecting very bad weather in Perth (so we were told) Apparently the weather was fine so I guess we will never know why. Back to the little man with the big voice. I am afraid your flight is postponed till 8am in the morning, busses will now take you to the Sanur Beach hotel where you will have dinner and rooms free of charge. What a bonus. Next morning I found out the mini bar was free; wish someone had told me that the night before. I had packed undies and a T shirt in my carry on luggage so I was OK. The girls were a little on the nose but so was everyone else on the flight home.
The wrap up
All that is left for us now are the memories, the duty free grog and the BTF.
We had the greatest time. Margaret and I love Bali and will always be regular visitors, although there are other places we want to see as well. Careena fell in love with the place and did not want to leave; she will be back soon I think. Tamara enjoyed her time with us but was not that keen on Bali and will probably not go back. We are all different and have our own sets of likes and dislikes. If everyone loved Bali it would be pretty damn crowded.
It was an interesting adventure for all of us. Two weeks has given us a lifetime of memories with our two special girls. The boys can be very proud also of the great job they did at home, well done guys.
We all remained in good health with just a few internal adjustments mentioned previously. The weather was brilliant, not a drop of rain through the day for the whole two weeks. It was actually a little cool on a few occasions whilst never being unbearably hot. I would sweat in a snow storm but was never uncomfortably hot at any time
Thanks for staying with me through this JBR. It has been good therapy for me getting used to the routines of home and coming to terms with the post holiday blues that we all get. I hope something here has helped in some way in your preparations for your visit to the Isle of smiles. I could never have done this trip as successfully as I did without your help. Thanks.
Cheers everyone
Happy travels to you all
