It's a VERY good place, right on the beach and with a huge range of beautiful pools in its own grounds. We stayed there one night last year to be near the airport for a very early morning flight, and enjoyed it very much although we usually stay in much simpler places. But you're right, eating and drinking there can be expensive. However you are a short stroll from the terrific BBQ beach restaurants, and a cheap taxi ride from Kuta-Legian-Seminyak where you have a huge range of bars and restaurants at all price levels. Just be sure you go in a blue taxi, not a hotel taxi.
