We regularly had lunch and dinner at The Crown over the last two weeks and consistently got good food and delightful service from the waitresses. One disappointing experience has made me reluctant to return. We arrived by taxi. The fare was less than 10,000 but the driver had just started for the day and couldot change my note. He asked if I would mind "getting smaller" money from the restaurant. I popped into The Crown, explained we were here for lunch but I needed some smaller money for our taxi. The young male in charge flatly refused saying they had no change. I explained that we were there for a meal and if he wished he could pay the taxi (about 8000) and put it on the bill or simply changr my larger note. He again refused. It was somewhat embarassing. One of the girls immediately said she would pay the taxi (and did). We paid her back after we had eaten our meals (she knew us well and we had always tipped her and the other girls generously). After the meal I said to the bloke in charge that we had deserved better service than that. He shrugged. I said I was considering posting my experience on the forum (he knows the owner's daughter posts frequently). His look of contempt would have made a schoolboy proud. Pity really. A great restaurant let down by a petulant young male boss (not the boss normally there is the evening who is great value).
