Just saw in today's paper that Flight centre have a $699 special out (plus taxes of $122) for 10 nights including breakfast.No dates are mentioned.
No specific hotels are mentioned either but obviously it would be one of the cheaper ones.Many of you know that FC is not one of my favourites for a number of reasons but that we had to book through them for the last trip because of credit card points.
I never got around to mentioning this in a JBR but I'd just like to warn everyone that I found it helpful to be very firm & stick to my guns with FC as well as doing a bit of homework myself.I found with the intial call that I was told certain dates our special was available & I was asked when did we have in mind.We were pretty flexible so I didn't expect a problem.It seemed every single date we came back with to FC was "full" for the hotel.I then said well you give me a date that's free & we'll take that then but it was all too hard.
From BTF feedback I very much doubted this was the case so I contacted the hotel direct & was surprised to be told that it was exceptionally quiet & that they would love to have us stay there.I got back to FC & the lady acted surprised at what I said or that I had bothered to call the hotel myself.She said she'd have to check with superiors & pass what I said on to them.It was amazing that so many dates became free after I let them know the hotel was very quite & said that they could accept us for any of the numerous dates we had given her.
As I said if anyone does inquire about a FC special & is told it's not available it may be worthwhile to do a bit of checking yourself.Don't take what you are first told as gospel.I personally think it's a bit of a marketing ploy involved.
