Just got back from our 8th trip to Bali & the biggest change that we noticed was that all of the taxis now use the meter without being asked so perhaps you can spread your money around a bit & not just use the Blue Bird group. Jakarta is however a different story, seek out the Blue Bird cabs as they seem to be the only cabs that use their meter.
