Great info in this forum! Boy, am I glad I found it!
My girlfriend and I are going to Bali in a little over a week on a package deal that includes airfare and hotel in Nusa Dua (yes, I know, I know) for 12 days. We were planning on using the room in ND as a 'base of operations' and venturing out to Ubud, the Gili's, and anywhere else recommended by you folks. Is this practical, given where Nusa Dua is geographically, or should we plan to carry all our stuff??
Does anyone have any recommendations for good places to explore? We want to see BALI, and not the tourist areas. North Bali? East Bali? I know this is a general question, but the books are pretty general in their praise.
Is it worth renting bikes/motorbikes to venture around or should we take cabs and walk?
Any advice on places to see/dine/stay/etc. would be appreciated!
