nusa dua is really great and its a great base! sure some folks claim its whats wrong with bali but i'm sorry its a great base. its calm picturesque, and paradise! i suggest a driver more than anything. Our drive is named "dana" his reall name is "i ketut wardana" bali moblie number is 08123919578. office number is 62-0361-223143. email cikar@denpasar.wasantara.net.id. dana will take you anywhere for about US $25.00 per day. he has a comfortable van, he guides while another gent drives. dana picked us up at the airport and took us to our nusa dua hotel for $5.00. he did not even collect the money until the following day! dont look for him to recommend restaurants however!
in regards to destinations i highly suggest mt batur. its the most breath taking view ive ever seen. actually i wanted to stay a few days. next time! anyway avoid the restaurant but catch the view and hang out at the lake for a few days if you can. hotel miranda is very affordable.

also if you shopping for silver go to the end of the nusa dua strip near club med. turn right at the end of the road about 500 feet and on the right is a market area. go to the far left first stall. a gentleman has a stand with really really fair prices dont expect to barter to much but he has nice silver and great prices. bare in mind anywhere your driver takes you he'll get a commision so try to buy your items on your own. the owner of the shop is putu gunadiyasa phone 062-361-775720. his shop is number 70 east.
