that's an interesting statement as i personally know of 3 people who have contracted malaria in bali...including 1 guy who was on the plane with me back to the states in an emergency evacuation with a dr. and an assistant...on a respirator and unconscious...a surfer....who had been in kuta.
i know 1 person who got malaria in nyuh kuning (just outside ubud) and another who got malaria in lovina...
it is not common, but it does happen...with larium, the cure is supposed to be worse than the disease...i usually don't worry about malaria but because of my personal experience in it's regard, next time i will take doxycycline while i am in bali...maybe not as good as larium, but no side effects to speak of, and better than nothing.
