We were in Bali in late November, the memory of our wonderful stay in Ubud was affected by the following:
While we were in Bali someone stole our VISA credit card number and made a fake card that was used 48 times between December 9th and 21st for a total of US$7,892 or about 58 million rupiah. There were 12 charges at Fuji Image Plaza, usually with two identical charges on the same day. These charges totaled US$2,386.00. What is going on there? Multiple charges, 3 to 4 time each, were also made at the following places: Triarga Mulya Pt., Sol Elite Paradiso, Cv. Graha Insan Surya, and Versace.
While we were in Bali we used our card quite often and assume that someone copied our number and made them self a fake card. Do you know of other instances of fraudulent use of credit card numbers? Do you know of any people that are making fake credit cards? Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Although we will not be charged for any of these purchases, I would like to know how this happened. Please reply on the froum or to elned@slip.net. Thanks.
Inspite of this problem we will never forget what a wonderful place Bali is and will pass the word on to our friends. Actually our son Adam will be in Bali later this year and I am giving him your card as I think he might like to stay with you.
