If I have answered this query once, I've answered it 20 times....LEAVE your Credit cards at HOME.....it's so simple!! In the first instance..take CASH..$US 100.00 bills are the BEST..or..if worried about cash, then take travellers cheques..nothing smaller than US$ 100.00..because you will NOT get the same rate for anything less.....and finally...go to the money changers that have PT KUTA P/L on their sign..you may get slightly less than some advertised prices..but at least you WILL GET the right money. Also, if you do a credit card transaction you WILL pay a fee at either one end or the other..sometimers 5% or more..and sometimes on both ends...you are in a third world country business wise...think first!!..We actually did an electronic transfer from a Kuta Bank to a Sydney Bank this month..the transfer was ...rupiah converted to pounds sterling..then into Sydney Bank where pounds was converted to A$...simple stuff..we get to make about 1% extra in A$ at the end of all this...the Kuta bank sent the money to Australia via Britain...cost...5% fee... which is on top of the standard fees....why??... stuffed if we can work it out...!!
