Naive US gal going solo to Bali

I'm planning on going to Bali in April solo. Is it easy to meet people in Bali (locals and other travelers)? My parents and friends think I am crazy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, I only have 1 weeks vacation. Is it worth flying halfway around the world for just a week.
