Around CD several places worth a visit. The 2 water palaces north and south of Amlapura (15 minutes away), one at Tirtagganga the other at Ujung (from memory) both worth a visit. Amlapura itself has a good market so visiting the 3 makes a good day out.
West of CD is Padang Bai the ferry terminal. worth a look Near PB the Bat temple, also worth seeing.
Just outside of CD (1km west then 2km north) is a traditional Balinese village. Worth a look but they are hoping you will buy some of the beautiful woven cloth...very expensive!
Not far from CD to the Kintamani volcano area.
No beach at CD but 3 or 4 km north a fantastic white sand beach. Then again I prefer the hotel pool!
If you don't get breakfast at your hotel recommend the Legong cafe to the western end of the main drag. Good food and cheap.
