BEWARE! the moneychangers with sandwich boards outside the front of most shops - these are the scanners who adverise a very high exchange rate just to entice you in, then rip you off. Been going Bali for years - Kodak shops have now mostly changed to Circle K - they too display their rates however insist that you fill out an exchange form ( name, hotel, signature etc), have their rates displayed on a screen & just count the money once for you. These are the safe & trusted changers. The scammers entice you in, count the money for you, hand it to you to count & then insist on counting again ( just in case you're ripping them off??? HUH??) meanwhile, during this 3rd count, someone will distract tyou, ask a question or whatever - when you turn to answer, WHAM!! scammed by a slight of hand making notes disappear. You won't see it - but it happens - I have watched them! Circle K's for me - only!
