It seems that there is a bit of Bali bashing going on at the moment (last nights ACA story on Bali) but has anyone heard about this one....I tend to view it with a bit of scepticism but then I am suspicious by nature anyway. A friend of a friend of a friend (isn't it always the way lol) apparently has just come back from Bali and was walking down a main street in Kuta and was approached by 3 men who put a bag over his head and kidnapped him. They then held him captive for 17 hours and drove him to various ATM's amd forced him to withdraw money from his account. They then dumped him in the countryside. He suppossedly was so terrified he told no one and just got on the next plane home and went to the federal police who told him that this is the 8th incident like this in the last month. Now I'm sorry I don't like to sound sceptical but if this was really happening would it not be on the 6 o'clock news? Especially as I said there is a lot of Bali bashing in the media at the moment I would have thought they'd have jumped on this one. Anyway on the other side of the coin I realise that Bali is not the safe, wonderful paradise that some people mistakenly believe and you do have to use common sense.
Interested to hear other's take on this one.
