Hi all, just a reminder when changing money. My son and his gf had to change a few hundred AUD's each because off to remote area for a few days. The cashier interrupted them many times whilst they were trying to count, each time they finished counting the cashier touched the money so they again counted, cashier claimed to only have small notes even though they saw larger notes, they smelt a rat as soon as they started transaction. Rates were highest in the area but in the big picture they would have only ended up with a little more rupiah. They walked out confident with their transaction. Got back to villa and both realised they were approximately 2,000,000rp short. Lesson learnt, if you smell a rat probably is a rat. I would love to name and shame but not 100% of the money changes location. All they family say they should have known better because both have been going to Bali for many, many years. Unfortunately I always changed money for my son even when he was old enough to have his own spending money. I wish I had given him the experience when he was younger to change the money himself. Oh well hoping it doesn't spoil their trip, leave a bad taste though.
