I guess you have a few options.
As you will know, ownership of properties in Indonesia for foreigners is currently not allowed.
So lease or rental are your real options.
I don't know your financial position, but a long lease villa option would be possible, with unlimited owner stay options and rent out for the rest of the year to raise some capital.
I don't get involved with time share, but it may offer some other options for someone in your position.
You may find options in Bali Advertiser, or by looking at other ex pat Bali forums.
Hoolz scours around for decent priced mid range places and stays in this way using long term relationships to get a decent deal.
I work slightly differently and have other fully funded options, but these can be expensive (relatively).
Of course, it would be nice perhaps to engage into a more "Balinese" experience, rather than just a continuation of what you have maybe been doing for years now you look for something different.
There are nice "home stay" options where you certainly aren't "roughing it" but are cost effective, and perhaps more importantly provide a more intimate connection with the "real Bali", which believe it or not, does exist.
Pools are always available at a price, or just buy a beer and you can use at many places.
Just depends how much you want to pay and how you want to immerse into the Bali way of life.
A month a year is really not much different to what many tourists regularly do.
