Arrived on Sunday the fourth, bit of a hold up at the airport due to multiple arrivals at the same time. No worries after all I am on holidays, One hour and a bit later out of airport and pick a random driver for the trip to Sanur, Asking price 200K, I know it's a lot cheaper to take a taxi but unlike most Scotsmen I am not a stingy bastard. Anyhoo arrived at Amansari Villas my choice in Sanur, this is the third time I have stayed here, not flash but good enogh for me, maybe I have low standards. Only been there 20 minutes and I get an e mail from an acquaintance from a different Bali forum welcoming me to Bali. We arranged to meet up for dinner that night and ended up at Coriander restaurant. As my own tradition dictates my first meal in Bali has to be Nasi Goreng, it was ok but not the best I have ever had. Breakfast at the Amansari is basic but cooked to order which I prefer over a breakfast buffet. The second night dinner was at a newish sports bar called Onion, can't even remember what I ate so it was obviously not a memorable experience. Went to Casablanca every night after dinner, just love the bands that play there.
Tuesday's dinner was at the Ducks Nuts, went to catch up with some old friends from Perth, catching up is always fun, as for the meal at above named place, No Comment.
Checked out of Amansari two days early and went to Nusa Lembongan earlier than was planned. Spent the first two nights at Breeze Villas, a fairly new family run place. Only problem being that ther is not much in the area regarding restaurants ect. Soon found out though the the Ibu of the owner was more than happy to cook for me. Now here is a revalation, that old lady can cook. I had a freshly caught grilled tuna with rice and veggies, 5 bucks, I can still taste it, delicious !
After two days there I moved to TS Huts in Mushroom Bay, a lot of just lazing around and swimming, food at small Warung next door to huts, great food and very reasonable prices.
Tomorrow I leave Nusa Lembongan for Padang Bai for a couple of days and slowly but surely will work my way up the coast.
Will post events of week two at the end of week two.
Ahhh another three weeks of happy travels to look forward too.
