The outbreak was not bali belly or food related. It was norovirus, which you can get anywhere.
I agree the increase in building density is creating many problems but the number of tourists is increasing vastly and you cannot blame people for redeveloping land to cash in on it.
I do find the blatant rip off artists annoying I have travelled a great deal through Europe, Asia and Australia and whist three are scoundrels everywhere I have never met as many as in bali. Most countries you can trust money changers but not there, even the "honest" ones have tried it on.
