We stayed 4 nights on Gili Trawangan in June and found that was a good amount of time to see the Islands.
If we had 5 nights, we would have taken a day trip to Lombok.
We stayed at Kokomo resort which was great, but others nearby also looked good.We paid around AU$185 a night in Ganesha Villa (2 couples)
They do have 1 bedroom villas too.
Kokomo has the best restaurant right on the beach.
Like Deb M we stayed in Amed at Baliku Resort and loved it. It is the shortest trip to the Gilis. They arranged the boat for us (700 K RP including transport, can do cheaper at the booking office, but it was convenient)
Trawangan is the biggest island with more restaurants than the others.
We spent one day cycling around the island and snorkelling, next day we hired a boat for the four of us stopping at Meno then Air for lunch, which we really enjoyed. The last day, we just relaxed, ate & drank.
A couple of evenings, we cycled round to the beach to watch the sunset over Bali. That was fun as there are lots of people, a bar, Reggae music and even a fire juggler one night.
