I've got flights booked for a trip to Bali for 20-26 august this year with my husband (and no kids). I had booked accommodation in Seminyak but I've decided I want to try ubud (or surrounds) instead as I want a peaceful break. I am a big fat foodie, so I'm not interested in somewhere more remote like amed where I assume there aren't top restaurants.

I haven't been to ubud for well over a decade and I'm struggling to know where to start when it comes to accommodation. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

My budget is up to $300 per night, but very happy to spend less.

What I'm looking for is
- a central location or a remote location with free accommodation on tap (I can't be bothered trying to organise taxis all the time)
- a traditional Balinese feel, with beautiful gardens and a nice view if possible
- a quiet place (not a place where kids will be running around the pool)
- a good restaurant on site or within walking distance

I have had a quick look on TA but I don't really know what I'm doing! I think the alam properties and tegal sari look close to the mark but I will probably not get in at this point...

So, any suggestions welcome. I recall a recent series of fantastic JBRs by a woman who sounded a lot like me and was staying in a lovely place just outside Ubud. I have tried to find her JBRs to find out what her accommodation was called but have drawn a blank.

Thanks in advance, Forumites!
