Lovely property, gorgeous villa. Bit hit and miss with service - I had to go chasing breakfast my 2nd morning because I hadn't been left a menu sheet to order from the night before. Also found the reception staff to be mostly friendly with the exception of the guy on check out who maybe just lacked tact. He asked if I had stayed alone, to which I answered yes. His follow up question was "Why?". My driver and friend who was sitting to the side waiting for me was horrified that I'd been asked such a question, especially at a property like that, lol.

Anyway, I doubt I'd stay again. For a similar style with gorgeous view, I'd go back to Natura Resort. Cheaper, similar style villa with a smaller plunge pool but overlooking the river gorge. Hourly shuttle into Ubud and back.

The only reason I went to Royal Kamuela instead of back to Natura was that I wanted to be in town for the Ogoh Ogoh parade on Ngerupuk (Nyepi eve).
