Can have as many bags, boxes, suitcases as you want as long as it doesn't go over your total allowance of all your travelling party. Yes you can add you hand luggage at checkin if you still have checked in luggage allowance.
Don't do web checkin, someone posted once something about if you have done web checkin then your flight is delayed there are problems. The queue in Perth for web checkin is usually as long because yes people still have luggage!
