I've used this machine a lot and I'm wondering if your friend could describe what changes there were on the machine (if they saw any) so I have an idea of what to keep an eye out for.
Also what happened when the card was blocked? Was it done by the Bank and did they get in touch with him/her to inform them of suspect transactions?

I wish all ATMs had that big green doover that the NAB ones do here, like to see a skimming device fit over one of those!
