as it is more "orderly" than Kuta or Legian??? The beach front hotels are in a great location with the beach path at the back and the road at the front. If the market ladies are too much of a sensory overload for him, that area is easily avoided.

I don't know what standard you like to stay but in the quieter south of Sanur is Sanur Beach Villas which is a budget property with 6 rooms and two villas which have 2 bedrooms and may be ideal for your son if you can get in. It has a lovely pool and is a little haven to come home to. The guests there are always friendly, many repeat customers. He would just be accepted as he is I think and being so small maybe would be more comfortable for him.
