There are 2 distinct types of holiday in Bali. There is the family holiday where people take their kids and have a wonderful time and are generally back in their room by 8 or 9 o'clock. Then there are the party animals who go out late at night clubbing and consuming large amounts of alcohol and walking back to their hotel late at night.
The first type have a great holiday and are probably not aware of any danger at any time but the second type would be aware and obviously need to be on their toes.
But alcohol can do funny things to people and does have an effect on their decision making and they may find themselves in a position of risk at some time. 99% of them will make it back to their hotel safely but unfortunately the small minority will fall victim of some wrongdoer.
Don't get me wrong. I am not professing that people should be tucked into bed by 9pm. I am not a wowser and I like a drink as much as the next person but I am aware that if I was to go out to clubs late at night and walk back in a drunken state then I am more at risk and I need to take the appropriate steps to minimise the risk.
Bali is a wonderful place and it certainly doesn't help when all and sundry (including the press) are describing it as a hell hole and a place to be avoided.
Go to Bali with your kids and enjoy all that it has to offer. You will not be disappointed.
