I can't understand why some people want to slum it while on holiday. For mine if I am going on a holiday I want to stay somewhere comfortable, eat well and stay safe. Decent accommodation in Bali is still cheap compared with most other destinations so why would you want to go the 60's hippie holiday when for a small outlay you can do it with a bit of style?
To each their own I guess.
